How do I change my password?

To change your password, once you’ve logged in, click on the options tab located at the top right-hand corner of the homepage, then scroll down to ‘change password’.  You can change your password here to a password of your choice. Your password must be between 8-32 characters.

How do I change my username?

To change your username, once you’ve logged in, click on ‘my profile’ in the top right corner of the homepage, then find ‘username’.  You can change your username here to a username of your choice. Please don't use your real name or email address. Your username can only contain alphanumeric characters, including (-_@.) and no spaces

I can't upload a profile picture

To upload a profile picture, once you’ve logged in, click on the ‘my profile’ link at the top right of the homepage.  In the ‘profile’ section, click ‘change profile picture’ and click ‘choose file’ and then ‘select file’ to use a picture of your own.  Please note the file type must be .jpg .png or a .gif file.

How do I check my notifications?

To check your notifications on the community if you will need to locate and click on the bell button in the top right-hand corner of the webpage.

After clicking on the bell, your notifications drop down menu will appear, you can scroll through the drop-down to view your notifications. Here you will see who has commented on your discussions, posts you have commented on and whether members have reacted to your comments.

How do I search for a specific post?

If you would like to search for a specific post on the community, you will need to click on the small magnifying glass button located under the ‘Start discussion’ box on the homepage: .

You will then be presented with a drop-down box labelled ‘Search feed…’, you can then search for a specific post on the community. To ensure you can see all live content, you will need to ensure that you have selected ‘All categories’ and ‘All content’ in the search boxes.

How do I post a discussion?

Discussions are a way for you to talk about what is important for you.

Simply click the ‘start a discussion’ at the top of the page, add a title and comments to your post. You can also add a picture, video, document or link using the icons.

Once you’re happy with it, click ‘submit’.

How do I comment on a post without starting a new discussion?

If you would like to comment on an existing discussion or poll the community, you will need to click on the comments button at the bottom right of the discussion or poll,see here:.

This will take you to the existing comments on the post, you can scroll down to read the comments thread from fellow community members and community moderators. When you have a comment, you would like to post about the discussion or poll, you need to scroll down the bottom of the comments thread and click into the box ‘Write a comment…’. Type in your comment and then click submit. You can support your comment with either an image, video, link, document or GIF.

How do I vote or comment on a poll? 

You can add your vote to your chosen answer and leave a comment in the box below if you wish. If you don’t want your name to be visible, tick ‘post anonymously’, before clicking ‘submit’ to cast your vote.

What are the ‘Agree’ and ‘Disagree’ buttons?

The ‘Agree’ and ‘Disagree’ buttons under a comment on a post’s comments thread gives you the option to either support or oppose a fellow community member’s comment.

What does the ‘Points Leaderboard’ mean?

The ‘Points Leaderboard’ on the community homepage shows how many points members have earned each month. Points can be earned by logging in, adding discussions, commenting on posts, agreeing and disagreeing on comments and taking part in polls and surveys. The leaderboard shows the ten members with the most points. 

I’ve seen content that I find offensive or abusive, what action to I take to report this?

Any language that is insulting towards others on this community or elsewhere is unacceptable. This includes abusive or offensive comments that degrade race, religion, gender, age or abilities. We also politely ask you not to swear in your posts.

If you see any comments or postings on the community that you find abusive or offensive, please do not respond to deliberately inflammatory messages. If you feel it necessary, you can report the post to a moderator using trustedvoices@explainonline.co.uk.

How do I log out?

To log out, select the community drop menu on the top right-hand side of the community and select the ‘logout’ at the bottom of the menu.
